Welcome to Roshanun Great Danes.

This web site has been designed to give an insight into RoshanunGreat Danes and to show case our dogs and their achievements. The family consists of Myself Roger my wife Sharon our 3 children and our Danes.

My wife affectionately remembers the first Great Dane she ever met, a huge fawn dog by the name of Duke that guarded her grandfather's shop in the late 1970s, when she was growing up as a small child, never a very good guard dog as the shop still got burgled, they just stepped over him whilst he slept. my wife still comments to this day that she cannot remember him having eyes as he never seemed to be awake. Walking him was a nightmare with him jumping all the garden walls as she went along, he cleared the local beaches in one fell swoop when let off the lead. He lived until the age of 8 which was a grand old age back then for a Dane.

I got the great Dane bug when I met a blue harlequin bitch in the 1990s by the name of  Abbie, she was a rescue and belonged to a friend of mine, sadly she did not enjoy good health, having problems with her joints but was such a friendly docile thing loving nothing better than having her ears massaged.

We had often talked of getting a dog as our eldest daughter had a horrible experience as a toddler that had left her terrified of all dogs, which dictated where we went and what we did, she was even scared of guide dogs.  We decided we had to get a dog because her fear was becoming a huge problem.  We wanted a large dog as neither of us liked small yappy dogs, we wanted easy maintenance so short hair was a must, we didn't want anything too high energy and the breed had to be good with kids and so the research began.

We bought our first Great Dane in 2007 after several years research into the breed and a year of communications with Kris at Dainoak including going to some of the shows to see Danes in the ring and meet breeders and their dogs.

Roshanun Great Danes only started showing in 2013 after we bred our lovely pet dane Molly (Dainoak Lux et Veritas) with Maverick (Dainoak Vos Liberabit) and had our first litter from which we kept our handsome boy Zeus (Roshanun Zeus Sumum Deum). In his first event in Builth Wells at the National Working and Pastoral breeds of Wales Zeus, aged just 6 months, attained three 1st places and a 3rd place under judge John McGlynn being expertly shown by Kris Kingsley of the Dainoak affix. He has since been consistently placed on most outings and won best puppy in breed at Royal Welsh Spring Festival as well as qualifying as a Premier League finalist in the 2013 South Wester Great Dane Club.

We also show Aayla, another much loved family member (Dainoak Venus's Amor), who was campained hard and qualified for Crufts at Windor Chapionship show 2013 and was expertly shown by Mr Reuben Lee at Crufts. We are delighted to announce that she placed 2nd in Post Graduate Bitch a large class automatically qualifying her for Crufts 2015.
